Todd Salovey first attended Adat Yeshurun as a grad student at UCSD in 1987. He joined Adat as the 50th member. He and his wife Diane were married by the Rabbi in December 1991. Todd served on the Adat Board in the 1990s, and currently serves as the main Gabbai.
Todd led a youth minyan affectionately referred to as the “Ice Cream Minyan” which continued until sufficient calories were consumed. Todd also co-wrote and directed almost 20 Adat Yeshurun Purim Shpiels. He taught the 8th grade boys at Soille Hebrew Day School, and he teaches Maimonides 2 for college students. He served on the San Diego Soille Hebrew Day board for 16 years, and was Board President. He has also served on the Torah High School board of directors, and is currently in his 2nd appointment as Board Chair.
He has been Associated Artistic Director of San Diego Repertory Theatre since 1991, and the Artistic Director of the Lipinsky Family Jewish Arts Festival for the past 22 years. He joined the faculty of UCSD in 1991 and teaches classes in acting, directing, and theatre. He is a professional director and writer whose plays have been seen in cities around the U.S. He is also on the faculty of the Rady School of Management where he teaches MBA students communications and presentations. Todd and his chavrutah Bertie Woolf are currently learning tractate Sukkah, and attending the Rabbi’s Talmud in Depth class.
Todd and Diane’s children are Leah (graduate of Hebrew Day and Torah High) and Aryeh (graduate of Hebrew Day and SCY High).
