Abe Loebenstein is a psychologist who works for the State of California in a prison, and also has a private practice specializing in forensic assessments. He grew up in a community strong in Yiddishkeit, but also fractured with a shul for every taste and style. He eventually became disenfranchised from the Orthodox world and came to San Diego to attend graduate school, where he eventually married his wife Iris. Shortly after marriage, Iris and Abe joined Adat Yeshurun, where they have been members since 1995. They raised their two children; Channa and Marcus in this community. Abe is especially thankful that he was able to find a shul like Adat Yeshurun, and he appreciates the welcoming attitude and the unity of the community, which is unique and special. Abe feels indebted to the spiritual guidance of the Rabbi and Rebetzin over the many years he belonged to the shul. As a board member, he would seek to preserve and enhance the hospitable qualities of the shul and community.
